Introduction

A more defined "about me"

Myanh Ta
My name is Myanh Ta (spelled weirdly, pronounced simply) and I am a student at UNC Chapel Hill majoring in Political Science. I love politics, movies, music, art, thunderstorms, and ice cream.   Because I attend a liberal arts institution, I have been exposed to philosophy, politics, science and art.  However, because I can multi-task, I am an avid watcher of reality television, movies, and E! news and listener to all types of music. So what is entertaining about the humanities, social and natural sciences? Plenty! In this blog, I plan to analyze seemingly esoteric subjects(in the natural and social sciences as well as the humanities) taken from a culture of academia and applying the ideas to pop culture, the most inclusive culture of all.

I’m just an ordinary girl living an ordinary college life. My days are filled with friends, classes, work, laughter, and the less than desirable food Lenoir dining hall has to offer.  My interests range from outdoor activities, such as hiking and kayaking, to shopping, keeping up with pop culture and current events, running, and attending improv comedy shows. As a college student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I enjoy expanding my knowledge in all arenas of life. My studies are focused primarily in Political Science and English with the hopes of attending law school after receiving an undergraduate degree.

I am one out of many taught at UNC Chapel Hill, my major being Environmental Science. I see it as a way to make an impact on issues that are important to me, but even more (and maybe I’m a selfish brat for it) I just want to be outdoors. I enjoy activities such as hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, orienteering, and trying anything under the (literal) sun. When I am not off adventuring I search for peace and inner joy in my life. I would have to say I’m a bit more interested in Eastern religions than I am pop in culture, so my pop culture-lens might be a bit blurry. I am, at least, a movie buff and enjoy watching sports, but I am always eager to learn more.

Hello readers! I am a sophomore out of Rochester NY. I came to UNC to study Broadcast Journalism and Pre-Law. I am a member of Pi Lambda Phi fraternity and a soon to be desk writer for the Daily Tar Heel. I hope you will enjoy our blog as we enjoy putting out out for all to read. Make sure to check out my video as a little tease as to what we will be planning

Usually when people describe me, one thing they say is that I always have a smile on my face. That’s because I feel that no matter the situation, everything will work out and tomorrow will hopefully be better. I was born and raised in Durham, NC and I am a full time student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My major is education. I want to become a teacher and work at schools that have underprivileged students and show that they have the same potential as wealthier communities. This is close to my heart because I did not grow up in the best neighborhood or attend any phenomenal pillar of education but I feel that I am making it and I want to show the youth that they can and will be successful even if it is not easy. I also have a part time job at Target. It may not seem like a lot but dealing with retail is CRAZY!!! This is where my smile comes of good use. I have a huge family and I love spending time with them. I am fascinated by pop culture and the lives of celebrities. I love music and  movies.

P.S. Now I attend a phenomenal pillar of education GO TAR HEELS
